Enchanting controlling parents

RAVE

I just saw a commercial for the movie Enchanted, which is coming out on DVD on Tuesday and I decided to make that my rave. I went and saw Enchanted when it was in theatres, but I can't tell who took me. Ok, it was Chris, but don't tell anyone that I told you. ;)

It was a great movie. It starts out animated and Giselle, the main character, lives literally in a dream world. She thinks it's normal to meet someone and get married 3 days later. She gets sent to the "real world" and has to learn how things really work, unless you live in Hollywood where the whole meet and married within 3 days really happens. It was cool watching her adjust, fall in love, and then have to choose between reality and her old life in animation. I won't spoil the ending for you so go rent/buy it.

RANT

Have you ever seen the MTV show Parental Control? It's a show where the parents don't like their daughter/son's significant other so they interview people and each pick someone to go on a date with their daughter/son. Then, the daughter/son chooses who they want to continue dating, their significant other or someone their parents picked for them. Ok, that part is mildly entertaining late at night. My rant is about the way the significant others treat the parents. They cuss and treat the adults with so much disrespect. I'm sure they really act up for camera, but it's just so horrible. I would dump someone in a heartbeat if they acted that way to my parents and Chris said he would break up with me if I acted like that towards his parents.

I have never seen a significant other be respectful towards the parents. I guess a normal, nice, mature person on that show would be bad for ratings.
