Anniversary Update

Today's the big day. When Chris got home this morning from work I gave him a card. He said he bought me one and he hid it so well that he couldn't find it!!

After work I went and picked up a cake I had ordered. After I ordered the cake Saturday I found 3 little toy dogs that resemble our dogs. I put them on the cake. I took it to the hospital to surprise Chris. He was really surprised to see me. A couple of his coworkers had heard I was going to bring cake so they came to the hospital for free food. I left the cake at the hospital for the doctors and nurses to enjoy. Everytime I go up there they ask if I brought food so I figured they'd enjoy it.

The thing I ordered Chris has yet to arrive. Since Chris is working nights this week it really doesn't matter, but I hope it gets here before the weekend.

I'll post again about this topic after our anniversary. This Wednesday, May 28, Chris and I will be celebrating 2 wonderful years together. It has been the best two years of my life. Here's a little background info.

We met 3 1/2 years before we started dating. I was a college freshman and he was a college senior. I met him one night at the United Campus Ministries and I developed a crush on him that night. We became quick friends and we started meeting everyday at 4:30 to do to dinner together at the cafeteria. One of my most vivid memories of us before dating was one day the first Smallville soundtrack came out (I LOVE Smallville!!). I wanted to get that soundtrack the day it came out, even though there was ice on the roads. I asked Chris to go with me because I was kinda scared about driving on the ice. I have no idea why, but I drove my SUV instead of letting him drive. We went to Wal-Mart, got the soundtrack and on the way back I was getting ready to turn into a parking spot when I started sliding on the ice. I freaked out, but I got control of the car and we arrived safely. Chris thought I was nuts for going out for a cd, but he usually thinks things I do are nuts. :)

Ok, fast forward to 2 years ago. We started dating during Memorial Day weekend. We went camping with a couple of his cousins and one of their dates. One night he insisted on roasting me a marshmellow. Well, he kept buring them or they would drop in the fire. I told him he didn't have to do that, but he was determined to. He finally got one just the way I like it. He sat down and put his arm around me. The time seemed right so I asked him if I could kiss him. He said yes and then leaned over and kissed me. We've been a couple ever since.

I still had one more year left of college and he had one more year of medical school. I went to college 2 hours from where he lived, but my parents live 30 minutes away. I went home most weekends and we hung out.

Chris and I graduated from our schools a week apart. He graduated first. I went to both of the ceremonies. I was so proud of him!! A week later I graduated from college and he came and saw me. I still had a couple of summer classes to take, so I moved back home with my parents and took one of the classes online and drove back to college twice a week for the other.

In June, Chris moved to Texas to start his intern year of residency. We were now 5 hours apart. I missed him like crazy. After a lot of talking we decided that in August after I completed my classes, I would move to Texas to be with him. It was hard to leave my family, but I figured right after finishing college would be the best time to start an adventure in my life. So I moved.

Chris had one dog, a Golden Retriever. Dolly is the love of his life. I think he would get rid of me before getting rid of Dolly. ;) Chris had been working alot and Dolly was lonely so he wanted to get her a playmate. The day after I moved down he went and bought me and Dolly a dog, a Sheltie named Katie. Well, Katie isn't as active as Chris would have like so in January we got a Collie puppy that I named Allie. Even as a small puppy she thought she could kick the butt of an 80 lb. dog!! Poor Allie, she tries and tries.

After being in Texas a couple of months I got a job at a law firm. 4 months later I quit due to lots of things happening and then a comment that was made to me by a coworker (not going to go into specifics here). I got a new job 3 weeks ago and I really like it. Chris has been working like crazy since this is his intern year of residency. His second year starts in 5 weeks and he won't be working near as much. We won't be spending our anniversary together because Chris is working. :(

I have ordered Chris something cool online and it will be delivered this week. I've also got a couple of tricks up my sleeve. ;) I'll post more after the anniversay.

RANT

My cell phone has quit working. When I try to call someone or someone calls me, the phone sounds dead. The person on the other line can hear everything I say, but I can't hear them. Since my contract ends in December, my parent sent me my Go Phone that I used in college. If you put your SIM card in it, it works fine. I can't use my cool ringtones that I had downloaded and I even made a couple of awesome ringtones that I can't use.

I'm breaking my rule about having a rave and a rant in each post. I just did some changes to my blog. I got a new template and I think it suits the theme of my blog. I also added a country music playlist. Whenever I create playlists I like to have my first song to have a meaning behind it. Here's the story.

My boyfriend is a die-hard George Strait fan. Everytime we are in his truck we listen to Strait cds. Chris likes to sing along with the songs. I discovered a song I hadn't heard before. This became my favorite George Strait song and Chris sings it to me almost everytime we hear it. :)

CMT 40 Sexiest Music Videos

I decided to do something different for this blog. Don't worry, I'll still be ranting and raving. :) Last week I watched a show on CMT called "CMT 40 Sexiest Music Videos". Since this blog is about me being opinionated and I love country music, I figured I would give a short opinion on all the videos and rank my top 5. I was going to do a top 3, but there are a couple of videos I can't decide between. Don't worry, my post will be PG.

Some of the videos I haven't seen all of so I am going off of the clip shown on the show.

40. "Play Something Country" - Brooks & Dunn

I hadn't seen this video until the show. It seemed like a fun video to dance to if you can dance. I can't dance!!

39. "Lips of an Angel" - Jack Ingram

I hated this song when it was a pop version and I hated it even more when Ingram did a country version. To make it worse the video is of him getting married and then calling his ex and talking about how he wishes his new wife was his ex. Gross. This is NOT a sexy song or video.

38. "I May Hate Myself In The Morning" - Lee Ann Womack

It was ok. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other.

37. "Forever and For Always" - Shania Twain

I remember this video came out during the semester I met my current boyfriend. I always think of him now when I hear the song. It's probably my favorite Shania video.

36. "Bad For Me" - Danielle Peck

It's a cute song about how chocolate, shopping, and lots of other things that girls like are bad for Danielle, including loving a certain guy. I think the video is more sexy for women than it is for men.

35. "Carrying Your Love With Me" - George Strait

This video is mostly George Strait walking around carrying a suitcase and it's still sexy!!! All hail King George. :)

34. "Turn It On, Turn It Up, Turn Me Loose" - Dwight Yoakam

I saw this video for the first time on the show and I hated it. I am not a Yoakam fan and his voice gets on my nerves and I couldn't get past that.

33. "Crash Here Tonight" - Toby Keith

I really love this video. It's just so sweet. The best part is where Heather Locklear falls asleep on Toby's couch and he covers her up with a blanket.

32. "Hick Chick" - Cowboy Troy

Haha, I had never heard this song before. It's really catchy. I catch myself grooving in my seat when I hear it now. It's a mix of country and hip hop.

31. "The Way You Love Me" - Faith Hill

I didn't care for this video at all. I don't know why it was on the list.

30. "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" - Joe Nichols

NOT SEXY AT ALL!! What's sexy about his grandma getting naked and jumping into a pool? Don't worry, they black it out, but still.

29. "There's No Limit" - Deana Carter

It's mostly a video of her walking around in underwear and a man's shirt talking on the phone. I wouldn't have ranked it this high.

28. "I'll Go On Loving You" - Alan Jackson

I didn't really care for this video, but I admit I didn't really listen to the lyrics or really watch it. It was boring so I tuned it out.

27. "Maria (Shut Up And Kiss Me)" - Willie Nelson

What is sexy about Willie Nelson?? Not a single thing. The only reason this video was ranked was because there was a woman dancing on a bar wearing skimpy clothes. For me the reason it was sexy was because Luke Wilson was in it. He watches her dance but never talks to her. At the end of the video she gets into her boyfriend's car...Willie Nelson's car.

26. "Real Good Man" - Tim McGraw

I cannot stand Tim McGraw. 'Nuf said.

25. "That's How They Do It in Dixie" - Hank Williams Jr.

A bunch of girls in skimpy outfits. Not sexy to me.

24. "Nothin' But a Love Thang" - Darryl Worley

Who knew Darryl Worley was hot!!! During one scene they are in a bathtub blowing bubbles at each other. That's really cute. The rest of the video is kinda trying to hard to be sexy.

23. "As If" - Sara Evans

This was ranked above Darryl Worley?? It's a great song, one of my favorites, but it's not THAT sexy. When I first saw it I thought she should date the delivery guy and guess who she winds up with? The delivery guy. :)

22. "Somebody Like You" - Keith Urban

This video also came out right after I met my boyfriend. I always crank it up when I hear it in my car and groove to it.

21. "You Shouldn't Kiss Me Like This" - Toby Keith

Weird video. I didn't even understand it until the people commenting on it said what the video was about. At first you think it's a mother and son. Ewwww.

20. "Man of Me" - Gary Allan

I think the song is sexier than the video.

19. "The Woman In Me" - Shania Twain

Didn't really care for it.

18. "Come to Bed" - Gretchen Wilson

Gretchen needed a softer video because all of her songs so far have been about how big and bad she is. I didn't care for this video or song though.

17. "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" - Kenny Chesney

I LOVE this song. It's my ringtone. I hate to say this, but I hate the video though. I guess the song makes up for it.

16. "Hot Mama" - Trace Adkins

The girl who was in this video said exactly what I was thinking about this video. It gets very pornish at the end.

15. "Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore" - Bon Jovi and LeAnn Rimes

I don't know what makes this video sexy. Most of it is just them walking down the street separately, but yet it's sexy.

14. "Ain't Nothing 'Bout You" - Brooks & Dunn

After seeing this video on the show, it almost ruined the song for me. I LOVE the song, but the video is not at all what I thought it would be. I figured it would be more cutsey. The song is sexy, not the video.

13. "Before He Cheats" - Carrie Underwood

It's sexy because she's a strong independent woman. The best scense is when she is standing in the middle of the street and the wind is blowing and the windows are blowing out of the buildings.

12. "Want To" - Sugarland

Not a sexy video. I love the song though. I would have made the video about camping in a tent at a lake.

11. "Your Man" - Josh Turner

I already thought this video was sweet and sexy, but when I found out it's really his wife in the video, that made it even better. It's a great video because you can see how he feels about his wife. He's just playing the guitar, singing to her, and dancing with her. There's no hanky panky going on and it still ranked high. That should tell some of these other guys something.

10. "I Melt" - Rascal Flatts

Ewww, guy butt. Not sexy.

9. "Raining on Sundays" - Keith Urban

Love the video. I especially like when he's jamming on the guitar and the wind is blowing, it's raining, and his hair and shirt are just blowing around. It seems very artistic to me.

8. "You Save Me" - Kenny Chesney

I hate to say this about Kenny Chesney, but this video isn't sexy.

7. "Life Goes On" - LeAnn Rimes

I think LeAnn Rimes tried WAY to hard to be sexy in this video.

6. "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right" - Billy Currington

OMG, Billy Currington...shirtless...beach........what was I doing again??

I don't even care for the words and it's still sexy. At one point Billy and the girl are just running around and playing the in sand and it's so fun. It makes me want to go to the beach.

5. "Let's Make Love" - Faith Hill and Tim McGraw

I'm not a fan of these guys or the song, but I guess it's kinda the same thing about the Josh Turner video with his wife.

4. "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" - Trace Adkins

Not sexy for women. I don't like seeing size zero women in barely there outfits shaking their butts at the camera.

3. "You're Still the One" - Shania Twain

I don't get this video so of course I didn't find it sexy.

2. "Come A Little Closer" - Dierks Bentley

This is one of those videos that tries a little too hard to be sexy.

I was really surprised that this video was #1. I figured an extremely skanky video would get this spot. I wouldn't put this as #1, but I can see why it was placed here.

I have three things to rave about today.

1. I got my tax refund check in today!!! Since I don't have a job this came at the best time. I was so broke!!

2. George Strait has a new song out called "I Saw God Today". The first time I listened to it I didn't really care for it and I thought the verses didn't flow together. I listened to it again and really listened to the lyrics and now I love it. If you listen to the entire song it makes sense. If you haven't heard the song, go listen to it. It's great.

3. MARCH MADNESS IS HERE!!!! It's my favorite part of the year. I have been looking forward to this for months. I just created two groups, one for my family and one for my East Texas for Huckabee group. I can't wait until next Thursday when the games start!!

Guys who choose video/computer games over their girlfriends.

Valentine's Day 2008

I had a great Valentine's Day yesterday!! We started celebrating the night before. My boyfriend, Chris, came home and said he was taking me out to eat anywhere I wanted. I chose Olive Garden. After we got home I gave him one of his presents, a pin that said "George Strait for President 2008" along with a card. He loved it. On Valentine's Day he was on-call but his attending doctor let him off of work for a couple of hours. When he got home he said he was going outside to bring the garbage can up to the house. Instead, he came in with 6 red roses and a balloon. He gave me two cards. One of them was a Superman card that I had seen at Wal-Mart and thought it would be awesome if he got it for me. When I read it I said great minds think alike, but he said that maybe he just knows me very well and what I like. (I LOVE Superman!!) I gave him another card and matching OU t-shirts for us. His is grey and mine is pink. I got matching shirts because I hate OU and I wanted to show that I'm making an effort to like them because he graduated from there and he is a die-hard OU fan. I told him we can wear them when OU plays and we don't have to wear them out in public ad he said yes we do!!

A couple of days before I had bought Chris a frog balloon. Here is a pic of the balloons and roses.

My rave is my awesome boyfriend, Chris. He is so good to me. I don't know what I would do without him. He brings out the best in me. :)

The 2008 Presidential election. I am getting sick and tired of it. Don't get me wrong, I have a horse in the race (Huckabee) and I am campaigning hard for him, but I am just getting sick of the way he is being brushed aside and ignored. I guess that is for another blog, though.

A healthy blog

Friday night I bought some cinnamon flavored Sun Chips. Now, I've tried regular Sun Chips before and hated them, but this is one of the best snacks I have ever tasted!!! My friend recommended them to be when we went shopping on Friday for healthy food since I started working out last week at Curves. (Yay for me!!) Everyone needs to try these chips. They also have the Smart Choices Made Easy stamp on the back of them, meaning they are kinda healthy.

RANT

Caffine headaches. I am trying to cut down severely on drinking Mt. Dew so much because of my trying to lose weight. I had my new required amount by afernoon so by dinner I was craving an ice cold Mt. Dew. I went out to dinner with my boyfriend and his coworker and his fiancee. I didn't see Mt. Dew on the menu so I got a water. It was gross!! I hadn't really drank tap water in this new town so I was surprised to find out it was nasty. Luckily, I found Mt. Dew on the menu!! I decided to give in and order one or else I would be miserable all night.
